Shocking: Eight-year-old Dies From Kerosene Explosion

The Enugu State Police Command has commenced investigation into the death of an eight-year-old boy from suspected adulterated kerosene that ignited fire in Umundu Community, Udenu Local Government Area. The Command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, said it occurred on Sunday night. Amaraizu said the boy and his family were in their house when the fire broke out and engulfed the whole apartment on that fateful day. He said: “It was gathered that the incident occurred when the victim, little Chikamso Nnamani, about 8 years old, had tried to refill their lamp with kerosene. “But unfortunately, the light went wild and quickly engulfed the whole house. “It was further gathered that as occupants were scampering for safety, the said Chikamso ran towards another direction where he was allegedly consumed by the fire.” According to Amaraizu, a full scale investigation has commenced into the incident. The Academic Staff Union of Universities says it may not honour further calls by the Federal Government for a meeting on the way forward over the current strike by its members. The union’s National President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said this on the sideline of a news conference on the update of the union’s struggle to salvage the country’s public universities from deterioration on Sunday in Lagos. Members of the union, under the aegis of ASUU, had on November 4 embarked on what it had described as a “total, comprehensive and indefinite strike”. Members of the union were protesting the non implementation f agreements entered into with the Federal Government in 2009 and 2017, as well as funding and improved welfare for members, among other issues. Pathetic: Truck Cruches One To Death, Injures Two In Two Days To Xmas + Photos

Just in two days to Christmas Day, it was reported that a truck has crushed a middle-aged woman to death and injured two men in Apata, Ibadan at early hours of Sunday, 23rd of December, 2018. It was gathered that, the ghastly incident involved a truck without a plate and a motorcycle. According to an eyewitness who spoke with #ADITU, Mr Gbenga, as a result of the truck's brake that failed, the truck hit a motorcycle when it got to the pump at Apata Police Post. Consequently, it killed a woman and injured two men who were riding on the motorcycle. In the truck driver's attempt to stop the truck, he proceeded to Odo-Ona but he met a traffic jam there, and he therefore reversed the truck to hit a cabster truck, parked by the roadside before it eventually crashed at Olugbode area of Apata. Hijab Crisis: Court Grants UI International School Extension Of Time

An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan on Friday granted an application for extension of time filed by the University of Ibadan International School Ibadan in a suit filed against it over the ban on wearing of Hijab by female Muslim students. The suit was instituted by some Muslim parents on behalf of their daughters after an initial protest that led to a brief shutdown of the school. Other respondents in the suit are the School Principal, Phebean Olowe; Chairman, Board of Governors, Prof. Abideen Aderinto; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of the university. The Muslim parents that sued the school on behalf of their children are Taofeek Yekinni, Idris Badiru, Sikiru Babarinde, Muideen Akerele, Abdurrahman Balogun and nine others. Shocking: 20-year-old Docked For Alleged Sexual Intercourse With Goat

A 20-year-old man, identified as Promise Okon, appeared before an Egor Magistrates’ Court in Benin, Edo State last Thursday for alleged sexual intercourse with a she-goat. Okon, whose address was not provided, is facing a count-charge of having sexual intercourse against nature, but he pleaded not guilty. The Prosecutor, Osayomabo Omoruyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on November 15 in Egor area of Benin. Omoruyi said the accused was caught having sexual intercourse with the goat by some neighbours, who arrested and took him to the police station. According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 214 (2) of the Criminal Law of Edo State. The Chief Magistrate, Egho Braimah, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
