Pathetic: Truck Kills Five In Ibadan + Photos

Not fewer than five persons has been reportedly dead in a motor accident at trailer park in Akinyele Local Government, Ibadan last Monday.

The ghastly incident was reportedly involved by a truck and a micra taxi with the registration number - PMD/208/XA.
According to eye witness account, Mr Tirimisiliyu Wahab, the truck was approaching Akinyele from Arewa along with the taxi. The taxi was before the truck.

The incident ensued when the taxi slowed to pass over a pump on the highway and unfortunately, before it could bypass the pump, the truck had trampled it.
Information has it that, the truck was suspected to had had a brake failure and it driver absconded the scene after the incident had happened in a twinkle of an eye.

According to a reliable source, the victims are butchers who went to Amusun to buy meat and going to Ojo market to sell their meat.
Also speaking, a resident who pleaded for anonymnity, both the truck driver and taximan were at fault.

The taximan was impatience as he tried to overtake the truck and it is believed that the truck driver lost its control.

Subsequently, there was emergence of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) at the scene to rescue the survivors.

There were five passengers in the car. Four persons were reportedly dead at the spot while the fifth person gave up the ghost on his way to the hospital for treatment.

Moreover, the truck has been impounded by the Police.

Responding, the spokeman of the FRSC, Mr Oluwaseun Onijanla, it is quite a unfortunate incident which they felt sad about it.

He further stressed that, they sent rescue operations to the scene of the incident immediately they were alerted by people around 12:15pm

Those who are injured were taken to the Adeoyo General Hospital, Ibadan.

He noted that, he can not give the precise number of casualities now until the crash investigation is over.

However, he promised to brief ADITU/TALOJEBI when the report is concluded.
