Fayemi lacks integrity to speak the truth – Fayose

Image
Former Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, has described the statement credited to Governor Kayode Fayemi that his administration was an error as a mere political statement that shouldn’t be taken serious. Fayose, who reacted through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, said Ekiti people knew that his administrations, both the first and second, were never an error, rather they brought unparalleled blessings and development to the state. Adelusi said: We are not surprised by what Governor Fayemi said because in the first instance going by Nigeria and the kind of politics being played, he cannot praise the good works of Fayose and besides that, as a new governor he must say something to impress the people no matter how ridiculous it may be. “If Fayemi said the administration of Fayose is an error, then the road projects, the High Court Complex, the Adunni Olayinka Women Development Centre, the Governor overnor’s Office, the Ministry of Finance building, the flyove...

I was under pressure to dump APC says Amosun

Image
Ibikunle Amosun, governor of Ogun state, says he was under “enormous pressure” to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the outcome of the primary elections in the state. Amosun was among the APC governors who locked horns with the national working committee (NWC) of the ruling party over the primaries for 2019 polls. Abiodun Akinlade, the governor’s preferred choice as successor, did not make the list of candidates that the NWC certified for 2019. This had irked Amosun who backed a parallel primary organised by the state chapter of the party but the NWC insisted on the choice of Dapo Abiodun as governorship candidate of the state for 2019. The governor held several meetings with President Muhammadu Buhari but that did not change the situation. There were reports that Amosun finalised his plans to defect to Accord Party after falling out with the leadership of APC. But the governor described the report as a figment of the writer(s) imaginati...

Image
Indication has emerged that the outgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, may dump the Peoples Democratic Party for the Labour Party, reportedly owing to the failure of his Sokoto State counterpart, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, to emerge as the presidential candidate of the main opposition party. Fayose had recently threatened to leave the PDP, following Tambuwal’s failure to win the party’s presidential primary. Speaking in an interview in Abeokuta, the LP State Chairman, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, said that Fayose had shown interest in contesting for the presidency on the platform of the party. Fayose is welcome. He didn’t tell us that it was because of Tambuwal Arabambi, who noted that Fayose did not tell the leadership of the party that he wanted to dump the PDP because Tambuwal did not emerge as the presidential candidate of PDP, said that the Ekiti governor wanted to join LP because he felt he lacked the necessary support in the PDP. The LP state chairman, however, ...

She went on to call on all Nigerians to say no to debates by proxy, adding that those who refuse to present themselves before the people do not deserve to lead them. Image
It is no longer news that the screening of aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress , APC, with some of its interesting outcomes, has come and gone . One of the interesting fallout was the audacious disqualification of two serving ministers from seeking the governorship tickets of the party in their respective states . Minister of women affairs, Senator Aisha Alhassan , aka Mama Taraba , as well as her counterpart in the communications ministry , Mr . Adebayo Shittu , was sensationally screened out by the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole- led national working committee , NWC, in what has turned out to be novel in the nation ’s fourth republic politics . The development , indeed , represents a turning point in the administration of political parties especially that of the governing party . Ordinarily , the governing party would have pampered those in the corridors of power as a mark of reward for political correctness and other considerations, particularly now that the APC h...
