Pathetic: SS3 Student Allegedly Shot Dead By Suspected Policemen In Teachers/Students Clash


Tumult in Olodo, Ibadan as a SS3 student of Olodo Grammar School, identified as Abass Gbadegeshin was reportedly shot dead by suspected Policemen in a Students/Teachers clash on Thursday, 29th of November, 2018.

According to a student of the school who spoke with ADITU, the ghastly incident ensued last Thursday when some students of the school were drove off their classes for an outstanding payment of N3,200 (Three thousand and two hundred naira) as Ajimobi developmental levy after paying a sum of N500 (Five hundred naira) as examination fee.
But, the students refused to leave the school vicinity and complaint that their teachers should not have collected the examination fee from them when they knew that students would be disallowed to write the examination without paying the Ajimobi developmental levy.

In procession, the Junior students started throwing stones at objects which accidently led to the damage of the principal's car parked in the school compound.
Subsequently, the school management summoned the police into the school in order to restore peace.

In the course, the policemen arrested three SS3 students with handcuffs instead.

Thus, the deceased with other students started agitating against the policemen over the arrest of their colleagues.
Consequently, the policemen shot Abass twice on his right lap.

Afterward, other students started throwing stones at the policemen, but they narrowly escaped the scene.

Also, a resident who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident, the teachers hid themselves in the staffs room for safety, due to their fear of been attacked by the angry students before they were eventually rescued by the police.

Adding that, some classrooms and cars were set ablaze by the acquaintants of the deceased.

However, information has it that, the deceased was taken to Olu-ode's clinic for treatment before his demise.

The Olu-ode of Ibadanland, Chief Kehinde Ege stressed in an exclusive interview with ADITU at his residence at Asanke Elege that, Abass was brought under emergency around 3pm last Thursday after his rejection from other hospitals before he eventually gave up the ghost around 5pm, same day.
