Mystery: Baba Ibeji Commits Suicide Over Suspected Pressure From Client At Ojoo

Residents of Ojoo in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital can't absorb their shock over the untimely death of a Welder, Mr Yaya Adeyemi noted as Baba Ibeji who was reportedly commited suicide by hanging on Sunday, 16th of September, 2018.

Infomation has it that, the deceased once had a transaction with a man identified as Baba Abass who is residing in Olorunda, Ibadan few weeks ago, before a slight argument ensued between them which was suspected to had led him to his early grave.

According to the wife of the deceased, Mama Ibeji while chatting with Aditu, her husband had a fight with the suspected Baba Abass on Friday, 14th of September 2018, following a transaction which involved both parties.

She stressed that, the suspect gave her husband a total sum of N30,000 (Thirty Thousand Naira) for a project, but later expressed his dissatisfaction towards the work delivered by the deceased.

She alleged Baba Abass to had connived with his son to beaten up her husband on the day the argument ensued.

Furthermore, he sent his son to their house around 5am on Saturday, 15th of September, 2018, giving her husband 12 hours ultimatum to refund the money while the deceased lamented that his bank account was empty as he had used all his money towards the completion of condemned work.

She said, her husband left home same morning in attempt to refund the money but unfortunately, he returned home hopeless.

Sequentially, Baba Ibeji decided to stay outdoor in order to safeguard himself from any calculated attack from Baba Abass consequently, he went to a nearby mosque to pray.

Also Speaking, wife of the suspect, Mama Abass, she attested that her husband had a transaction worth N65,000 (Sixty-Five Thousand Naira) with Baba Ibeji for the construction of two iron gates and a cover guide.

She further said, the deceased later returned to her husband for additional sum of N20,000 (Twenty Thousand Naira), blaming the exorbitant price of iron in market.

Subsequently, her husband solicited for extra N5,000 (Five Thousand Naira) to make it N70,000 (Seventy Thousand Naira) for the completion of the project and Baba Ibeji agreed.

But the deceased failed to deliver the work on the next Monday as promised and he pleaded till Wednesday before he eventually delivered the work about 8pm on Thursday, same week.

Next day, her husband complained to Baba Ibeji over the inferiority of the work delivered as some part of those gates had started to damage but he harshly responded that "is the work worth a million?".

Consequently, a fight ensued between both parties at the spot but the fight was settled for the quick intervention of some spectators.

Afterwards, Baba Ibeji voluntarily pledged to refund the money with extra N10,000 (Ten Thousand Naira) till on Monday when they surprisingly heard the rumour that he had commited suicide by hanging.

She further revealed that, prior to the transaction, Mama Ibeji had earlier gossiped to her about a rumour that her husband was planning a suicide.

However, she denied the allegation that the deceased was earlier beaten up by her husband and son.
