ASUU To FG: We’ll No Longer Honour Your Calls For Meetings

The Academic Staff Union of Universities says it may not honour further calls by the Federal Government for a meeting on the way forward over the current strike by its members. The union’s National President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said this on the sideline of a news conference on the update of the union’s struggle to salvage the country’s public universities from deterioration on Sunday in Lagos. Members of the union, under the aegis of ASUU, had on November 4 embarked on what it had described as a “total, comprehensive and indefinite strike”. Members of the union were protesting the non implementation f agreements entered into with the Federal Government in 2009 and 2017, as well as funding and improved welfare for members, among other issues. Collateral Damage: Suspected Gangsters Vandalises Properties Worth Millions Of Naira In Ibadan

Properties worth millions of naira has been reportedly vandalised in Ita-Ege, Ibadan by a suspected gang noted as Agbija boys from Omiyale on Wednesday, 14th of November, 2018. Information has it that, the Ita-Ege boys had earlier had a clash with the Agbija boys in a party held at Omiyale last Sunday, thus, the Wednesday's incident was alleged a reprisal attack from the Agbija boys. According to eyewitness account, Felicia Ahmed, the Agbija boys were moving in mass to Idi-Aro around 8pm, singing all sorts of morale songs with fierce weapons in their hands. Though, no live was lost. According to a resident who spoke with ADITU, Ridwan Adedokun, the Agbija boys had earlier warned the residents to stay indoor before 6pm on Tuesday, 13th of November, 2018. Kutigi For Burial Today As Shonekan’s Family Denies Death Rumour

The family of the late Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Idris Kutigi, has announced his burial ceremony for today and tomorrow. Also, the family of the former head of the Interim National Government, Chief Earnest Shonekan, has debunked his rumoured death. A statement issued yesterday by Mrs Binta Aliyu, the family’s first child, said the body of the late jurist is scheduled to arrive in Abuja from London this morning, October 24, with the burial slated for 2pm at the Gudu Cemetery, Abuja, after the Janazah prayers at the National Mosque, Abuja. According to her, Fidau prayers will take place on Thursday at 10am at the residence of the late jurist in Asokoro, Abuja. “The Fidau prayers will also take place simultaneously at the Etsu Nupe’s Palace in Bida and in Kutigi, Niger State,” she added.
