The Academic Staff Union of Universities says it may not honour further calls by the Federal Government for a meeting on the way forward over the current strike by its members. The union’s National President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said this on the sideline of a news conference on the update of the union’s struggle to salvage the country’s public universities from deterioration on Sunday in Lagos. Members of the union, under the aegis of ASUU, had on November 4 embarked on what it had described as a “total, comprehensive and indefinite strike”. Members of the union were protesting the non implementation f agreements entered into with the Federal Government in 2009 and 2017, as well as funding and improved welfare for members, among other issues. Pathetic: Truck Kills Five In Ibadan + Photos

Not fewer than five persons has been reportedly dead in a motor accident at trailer park in Akinyele Local Government, Ibadan last Monday. The ghastly incident was reportedly involved by a truck and a micra taxi with the registration number - PMD/208/XA. According to eye witness account, Mr Tirimisiliyu Wahab, the truck was approaching Akinyele from Arewa along with the taxi. The taxi was before the truck. The incident ensued when the taxi slowed to pass over a pump on the highway and unfortunately, before it could bypass the pump, the truck had trampled it. Information has it that, the truck was suspected to had had a brake failure and it driver absconded the scene after the incident had happened in a twinkle of an eye. According to a reliable source, the victims are butchers who went to Amusun to buy meat and going to Ojo market to sell their meat.
