Sokoto disburses 220 bags of grains, cash to the needy

The Sokoto State Government on Tuesday disbursed 220 bags of grains and N 600,000 cash to the needy.

Malam Lawal Maidoki, the Chairman, Zakkat and Endowment Commission, who spoke at the inauguration of the distribution in Sokoto, said the gesture was part of government’s monthly allocation to the commission.

“Today is another important event in the commitment of Sokoto State Government to assist the needy persons and diabetic patients among us who are in need of such assistance.

“So, as part of the state government’s support through the commission, we earmarked 200 bags of millet and N 400,000 to share among 200 needy persons, each to get one bag and N 2,000.

“In addition to that, we selected 20 diabetes patients each to get one bag of wheat and N 10,000 in order to support their living,” he said
