SUMAL casual workers protesting
SUMAL casual workers protesting at Oluyole Industrial Estate Ibadan for increment in salary, clamoring that salary paid is too low to work done as at press time. They vehemently opposed the method used by the company because it is a way of enslaving workers.
Speaking with Aditu crew, they stated categorically what they are protesting for, the changes they want and deserves.
"we want increment in salary from #925 per day to #2 000 because the initial salary was #64 000 per month. We want at least an hour break in working hours. Fair treatment and also workers should not be sacked for not coming to work anyhow after a very genuine reason.
In a way of providing solution to the problem of this people, Aditu crew, led by Mr Double A of Splash FM contacted the NLC chairman Oyo State chapter and he immediately sent a representative.
Speaking with NLC representative on the live program on Splash FM, he asserted the fact that NLC was never aware of the situation going on there.
" ...we never knew about this matter because they did not lodge any complaint to NLC.
The representative of the NLC chairman thereby promised on behalf of the chairman Oyo State Chapter, Com. Waheed Olojede to act as fast as possible on the matter.
"though they are not under NLC but yet they are Nigerians and the way they are been treated is not under labour terms. We can't allow the foreigners to enslave our people in our own land" he said.
